For Educators on Zoom ..

Hey friends ..

Challenging times.. and a lot to learn about online classes. 

A few tips for maintaining Classroom decorum..

1. Schedule your class in advance.

2. Do not use your personal id. That way every time you would get new meeting id and password.

3. Check your meeting settings.

(a). Enable Mute upon entering.

If not you can turn audio off in participants' list.

(b).Enable waiting room.That way you wd be able t see everyone who is entering the class in the waiting room.

(c)Admit only those whom you identify.

(d)Ask students t Rename their devices wth their full name,Class & Section to help you in identifying n marking the attendance.

(e) Lock your meetings as soon as you finish taking attendance.

(f) Be vigilant to note the name of anyone  leaving the class.

4. Be a host..i.e.  Report earlier than students and adjust settings according to your choice.

5. Allow only the host to share the screen.

You can change this if need be.

6. Turn annotations off for students to stop them from writing on the screen.

7.If you want them t annotate n write on screen select "Show annotator"

Tht wd show you the name of anyone who is trying t write on the screen without your permission.

8. Chat settings select Chat wth the host only.That would eliminate any parallel conversation in your class.

9. For annotation settings you will have to follow the following steps:

(a) Tap/Swipe Share Screen icon. (Bottom, centre)

(b) This would show you a panel with different options. Select Whiteboard settings.

(c) Now tap ••• in bottom right. Now select more settings and it would show you annotation settings. Set them accordingly.

(d) This is to be done for every meeting.

10. Important : If you see anyone annotating /disturbing the class, take a screen shot and remove that student from the class. Better still send him to the waiting room..He won't be able to enter the class unless you admit.

11.Important:Never ask any student t host the class n invite you.That wd give him/her all the controls t take you for a ride.

12.Last bt not the least,if you do not understand anything do not ask them t help you in sharing etc,it wd give them a chance to hv fun at your cost.

Students are the natives of this virtual cyber world and we are the migrants. So be vigilant all the time.

After all we are the masters.We have to set things right.
